Two of a Different Kind. Size 10.

At the mahjong table, matching tiles matter. In your style, exact matching is often what makes things predictable.

Matching is useful. It just isn’t the same thing as interesting.

Two of a Different Kind pairs two oval Australian opals in different sizes and colors on one open sterling silver band. They balance one another without pretending to be identical—because balance does not require duplication.

Your eye moves from the larger blue-green opal to the smaller stone with its stronger flashes of red. That difference gives the ring more personality, more color, and a reason to look twice.

It’s mahjong night at your friend’s house. Drinks have been poured, snacks have taken over the kitchen island, and everyone claims to remember the rules better than they actually do.

You reach across the table to collect a tile. Before you can finish your turn, the woman beside you says, “Wait—let me see that ring.”

Now it is making its way around the table because nobody has seen one quite like it.

Matching tiles may win the game. Different opals make your hand memorable.

Two oval Australian opal triplets face one another across an open sterling silver band. The larger 8 × 10 mm opal shows primarily blue and green, while the smaller 8 × 6 mm stone contributes stronger flashes of red. They share a ring without sharing a résumé.

The larger opal is approximately the size of a small coffee bean, although flatter. The smaller has roughly the footprint of a pencil eraser. Their different proportions are deliberate: the larger stone anchors the design while the smaller one keeps the composition from becoming too orderly for its own good.

Both opals are set in high-polish sterling silver bezels. A substantial round sterling silver wire forms the band, curving around the finger and leaving open space between the stones. That opening keeps the two opals visually distinct and prevents the top of the ring from becoming one solid wall of silver.

The open band also provides a little natural give. However, this ring is made to fit approximately a size 10 and is not intended to be repeatedly bent or adjusted.

Each triplet contains a thin layer of natural Australian opal supported by a dark backing and covered by a clear protective cap. The cap works much like a watch crystal, protecting the opal layer while allowing its color to remain visible. The result is an opal ring you can wear regularly without treating your hand like delicate cargo.

Perfectly matched jewelry creates order. These two opals create a conversation—which is considerably more useful when drinks, snacks, and mahjong are already on the schedule.
