An Australian opal triplet places a thin layer of natural opal over a dark backing and beneath a clear protective cap. The dark layer gives the color greater contrast, while the cap adds protection for nights involving crowded restaurants, enthusiastic concertgoers and the occasional person who believes personal space is merely a suggestion.
