How to choose an opal engagement ring

If you are everything but traditional, an opal engagement ring will effortlessly showcase your uniqueness without having to convince anyone of it. Just flash the ring and they’ll know.

With its ethereal glow, the opal has captivated hearts throughout history.

Immersed in mystical significance, the opal is a stone that represents fidelity and purity. A beautiful choice for an engagement ring, the opal is a stunning option for brides who appreciate a uniquely exquisite expression of their love.

Step 1: Identify the type

There are seven main types of opal, but let’s keep it simple for opal engagement rings. By far the most common type of opal is a natural solid stone. A solid opal is an opaque white stone with flashes of color. This type of opal is softer than most stones and can be more expensive. The next most common is a triplet. Opal triplets have a protective quartz cap, natural colorful opal, and a strong backing. This is a great option to get a colorful opal at a beautiful price. If your hearts is set on an opal, a triplet is our recommended choice.

Next is to pick your color. I love all opals, but I am especially fond of blue opals with red. Most of our brides love blue and green opals. Patterns and shades of opal make each stone truly one-of-a-kind which is fitting for a one-of-a-kind bride.

Step 2: Pick your ring style

Timeless beauty is always in style with a vintage inspired style. These rings are a wonderful option for anyone who loves intricacy and detail.

Rings with a whimsical feel will often feature stones with warmer coloring with luscious pinks. The romance is captured in softer lines.

Classic engagement rings offer simplicity and clean lines.

Step 3: Will you marry me?

We recommend shopping with patience and asking lots of questions. An engagement ring is an emotional and personal expression of your love. It represents what’s in your heart so you want it to bring out that same feeling every time you look at it. Once you have the ring it’s time to pop the question.

We know how it feels to see lots of jewelry that is pretty, but it all starts to look the same. Don’t settle over a common ring; feel inspired with a one-of-a-kind pop of color.

We decided to work exclusively in opal because it has the brilliance of the most precious gems - the fire of ruby, the rich purple of amethyst, the deep blue of sapphire and the sea-green of emerald, all shining together in bright harmony.

We are Ryan and Chrissy Jones, a husband and wife team that designs and crafts the jewelry near the Gulf Coast of Texas. Ryan learned how to make jewelry to make me happy. After our experience of wanting jewelry that’s special, but made for every day, we knew we could share that with others.
