What you do makes a difference
I was trying to think of what to write this month and then sadly Beaumont, Texas was hit with a tropical storm. We are no strangers to storms during hurricane season, but it is interesting how each storm has a different effect.
As always, there is a strong sense of community with each storm. #409strong #texasstrong and many more calls to action. When the waters rise, we rise. It is very easy for the fire department to because a brotherhood, but in times like hurricane season the entire community helps each other.
What I have learned living in this area for ten years is that what you do makes a difference and the you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make. I am so proud of my wonderful friend who owns Mackenzie’s Pub in Beaumont, TX. She has cooked for me at different places for many years and has successfully owned and prepared food at Mackensize’s for the past year and I’m so happy for her. I particularly love the Southern BLT. This week she and her husband made a positive difference in the lives of so many first responders. The food she served to the men and women helped warm their wet feet, boosted their morale and gave them fuel to continue to serve our town. When I delivered gumbo to Ryan’s station he said this was the best food he has had in 48 hours. While many companies offer food to first responders, the love Traci and her husband put into their food comforted our men and women in uniform.
I’m so proud of Traci and her family and the impact they make in Beaumont. If you are every in town go eat, drink and dance at Mackenzie’s Pub. Ryan loves everything they offer and I love the Southern BLT so much I order it every time; I mean it has a fried green tomato and pimento cheese on sourdough bread.
Our mission at Christine Ryan Designs is to be like Traci. To work hard, provide exceptional service, beautiful craftsmanship and support our community. We are all able to make a difference and I hope the difference we want to make helps those around us.
You can learn more about how we support firefighters, but really just go get food at Mackenzie’s.
